Fall Salmon Season

Been a little while since I've not only posted but have also fished until last week. Glad to be back on the water

 Monday
Spent checking out one of my favorite Northern Mass rivers to see how the fall stocking program had done spreading out the fish in still severely low conditions. Managed to bring in 4 nice rainbows to the net. By there colors two may have been hold overs from the spring.

Thursday
Started off early in the quest to catch both an Atlantic Salmon and a Land Lock in the same day. We
walked out on to the shore of the Pemi just as sun started to show. With in about 10 minutes I get first fish on but dumps hook pretty short into fight. About 45 minutes go we work our way down stream bam indicator goes down  and lines starts buzzing off my reel. After about five minutes into fight fish tangles around something on bottom cause it to break off. We fished hard for next two hours without
another bite. So we decided to beat feet to our next stop for some Land Locks. With in about ten minutes my friend had one trying to take his fly. After an hour or so later I hook into and nice which I had chase my fly twice the hid. So I change to an less flashy fly and bam first cast nice Salmon
on. Maybe another hour passes my friend Ian with many hook ups but none to net he finally lands nice fish.

Saturday
Was the hunt for Wild Trout. Which we found some real nice ones who wanted to play. We hit a few pools before stopping at the hot spot. I had fished this river a few weeks ago with my friend Drew who's blog is on this page. Three drifts nice wild rainbow on. After giving my buddy Ian some pointers he hooks into a over 20"bow and has it dump hook. I started working corner down from him while waiting for fish to settle back down in upper corner wanted Ian to have another shot. I hooked into nice brown. Things settle down after a few and Ian is back at it bam nice 18" wild bow on the line. A good fight was had a quick pick and gentle release. Afterwords Ian says to me its biggest rainbow and biggest fight he has ever had. We work our way around down stream and end off one more time in hot spot right before lunch. Two drifts in nice wild bow on. Rest of day after lunch was slow.

Tuesday
It was time to go after some more Salmon. After we struck out again in the am at the Pemt we hit the LL spot again. After maybe two hours I hooked into a nice 21ish Salmon in some super skinny water. We fished another hour figured we'd get some lunch. After lunch we hit another piece and Ian picked up a nice Salmon another great day in NH
